Commissions

Stained Glass adds value, privacy and beauty to any space. I have instruction on how I proceed with a commission below. If you have additional questions or to begin you can reach out to Kickglass@aol.com

First meeting- We will discuss design, pricing and the software I use to design your stained glass panel.

Design-be prepared with the exact size of the panel. Have a look online to get an idea of what you are looking for. Maybe in one panel you like the boarder. In another you like the design and another you like the colors, print all three photos.

Software- I use Glass Eye Software which is designed specifically for stained glass artists. The software has all the stained glass samples from stained glass manufacturers. Colors can be added and changed quickly. It’s easy to copy and paste and make changes and see them side by side.

Pricing- The pricing is based on size and number of pieces. More pieces means more cutting, grinding, foil and solder. Glass cost is also taken into consideration. Different colors are different prices.

I will design an image and email it to you. You can make changes and then we will finalize the design. I will send an email with the final design and estimate. Deposit and signed estimate will be required before work begins, Please let me know if a there is a deadline. I do not do installation of completed panel.

There is a design fee, to be determined, for the exclusive use of the design. For an additional charge a full size template can be printed to see how the design will fit into the space.

Second meeting-I will meet with you before work begins to pick colors. I have several hundred 2”x3” samples of the glass I use so you can get an idea of color, texture and transparency of the glass you will select for your panel.

Two copies of the panel must be printed and laminated. One panel has to be cut for pattern pieces. Once that is done glass cutting can begin. Progress photos will be sent along the way.

Each piece has to be cut, ground to fit, foiled and soldered to make the panel. If the panel requires re-strip copper reinforcement will be added. Copper c-came will be used around the edges to add in support.

Panel then will be cleaned, patina and waxed to preserve the finish. Maintenance on your finish piece should be cleaned, windex works and then waxed yearly. Photos of the commissions I have completed are below.
